Another fantastic evening canvassing in Sandymount!
Dermot’s biggest supporter, Philip, came out to join us. He’s very passionate about politics and received a great response at the doors.

I am delighted to announce that assessment work is currently underway to give the iconic Poolbeg Towers a fresh coat of paint.
This two-year project aims to ensure these beloved structures remain a proud part of our city and I hope they’ll be kept in good condition going forward. Read more on Lovin Dublin

Revitalisation of the historic Sandymount Baths and Pier
I recently tabled a motion in a meeting of the South East Area Committee asking councillors to revive the historic Sandymount Baths and Pier. Dublin City Council’s response is pending, but I am pushing for action. This project, alongside improving the old Martello Tower and bathing water quality, is crucial for enhancing Dublin Bay’s potential.…

Brilliant evening out canvassing within the three wards in Dublin Bay South ahead of the local elections:
Myself and my team were out in Pembroke Fiona Connelly in Kimmage-Rathmines Carol Reynolds in South East Inner City

While canvassing for the upcoming local elections the other evening, one of my team mentioned they found an old RTE archives video of me advocating outside the Dáil for Baggot Street Hospital back in 1987, when I was Chairman of the Save Baggot Street Hospital Committee. “People concerned with the possible closure of Baggot Street Hospital demonstrate outside Dáil. Report shows people picketing hospital. Interview with Dermot Lacey, Chairman of the Save Baggot Street Hospital Committee, who points out that with the previous closure of three hospitals in the region, seven hundred beds have been lost to residents.” Click here to…

Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) serves as the national representative organisation for the private and voluntary nursing home sector.

In a recent interview with Newstalks Lunch Time Live, I highlighted the urgent need for a dedicated Minister to handle asylum seeker accommodation and the inefficient system currently in place.
I called for utilising state-owned properties to house asylum seekers and emphasised the importance of an outreach service to process applications. It’s clear that this issue requires focused leadership to effectively address the challenges faced by asylum seekers in Dublin. To read more, please click here for the NewsTalk article

I spoke on RTE Six One News this evening about the urgent need to provide adequate accommodation and support for those seeking asylum.
Local communities and businesses shouldn’t have to be affected by this either. There’s a serious lack of leadership on the matter at government level and it’s imperative that a solution is found as soon as possible.
