He was referring to comments made by the Minister in The Sunday Times yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n&#8220;Perhaps he hasn\u2019t recovered from an over indulgence in the Christmas spirit, but before Minister Roche engages in another dose of preaching he might get his facts right!\u201d said the former Lord Mayor of Dublin.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Lacey added: \u201dMinister Roche implied there had been an increased Government allocation to local authorities when in real terms the opposite is the case\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cllr Lacey, Roche has made no provision for the costs of benchmarking that so far has cost Dublin City Council approximately \u20ac76 million.<\/p>\n<p>He has made no provision for the loss of commercial rates on government properties that last year alone cost Dublin City Council approximately \u20ac25 million.<\/p>\n<p>Above all he has made no provision for the nearly \u20ac100 million shortfall in the amounts due to the city under the agreement that full reimbursement to local authorities would be made following the abolition of domestic rates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn short Minister Roche and this Government has ripped off Dublin City Council to the tune of \u20ac200 million,\u201d said Councillor Lacey. \u201cSo much for Minister Roche\u2019s big increase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course it is the same Minister Roche who has delayed the publication of the Indecon Report on the funding of Local Government. I pioneered the 20% Social and Affordable Housing concept though the Dublin Docklands Development MasterPlan and have established a housing co-op in my own area and am a Board member of an Approved Housing Body. I was for ten years Chairperson of the South Dublin\\\/Wicklow Branch of the Irish Foster Care Association. Clubs and Committees Currently on Dublin City Council I Chair the South East Area Committee and the Housing Strategic Policy Committee. I am Board member of Donnybrook Community Employment and Sandymount Community Services, Donnybrook Community Playschool and numerous other local, community and Dublin wide organisations. I am member of the Board of Scouting Ireland, the City of Dublin Education and Training Board and the Royal Hospital Donnybrook Board.
