Dermot was in today’s Evening Herald, talking about the ridiculous amount of money being spent erecting huge signs around developments.\u00a0 An excerpt:<\/p>\n

MILLIONS of euro of taxpayers’ money is being wasted on signs erected on construction sites throughout Ireland, according to a Dublin city councillor.<\/p>\n

The official signs, which advertise projects being carried out under the National Development Plan, are costing up to \u20ac5,000 each.<\/p>\n

Labour councillor Dermot Lacey has called for an end to the “wasteful” practice. He was angered when he first discovered that a single sign at the entrance to an affordable housing development at Beech Hill in Donnybrook in Dublin cost \u20ac4,994 to erect.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I pioneered the 20% Social and Affordable Housing concept though the Dublin Docklands Development MasterPlan and have established a housing co-op in my own area and am a Board member of an Approved Housing Body. I was for ten years Chairperson of the South Dublin\\\/Wicklow Branch of the Irish Foster Care Association. Clubs and Committees Currently on Dublin City Council I Chair the South East Area Committee and the Housing Strategic Policy Committee. I am Board member of Donnybrook Community Employment and Sandymount Community Services, Donnybrook Community Playschool and numerous other local, community and Dublin wide organisations. I am member of the Board of Scouting Ireland, the City of Dublin Education and Training Board and the Royal Hospital Donnybrook Board.
