“The over reaction by RTE to a number of isolated events on St Patrick’s Day is typical, unfortunate and brings little credit on RTE.

The decision should now be grasped by the Government as an opportunity to once and for all decide to locate the Abbey Theatre on this most prestigious site at the Northern end of O’Connell Street.
The decision by An Bord Pleanala announced today to refuse permission for a 92 apartment development along the River Dodder at Milltown has been welcomed by local Labour City Councillor, Dermot Lacey.
“As the only elected Public Representative to appeal the two planning approvals for the area known locally as Scully’s Field I salute the local community activists who pursued this matter to its successful conclusion”.

Watching the unfolding crisis develop in Northern Ireland one thought increasingly crosses my mind. When Peace and Stability does come to Northern Ireland, what on earth will RTE find to talk about? Any chance their News and Current Affairs (sic) Department might discover the Republic of Ireland ?

The reported comments of former Councillor Chris Andrews in the
Southside People ( 9th February) in which he blames the PDs for the legislation allowing the rection of Phone masts on Publiuc Buildings surely qualifies him once again to be considered a worthy contestant for Brass Neck of the Year Award, according to former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Dermot Lacey.
